About us
Your role
We are seeking a Hydraulic Systems & Simulation Engineer to own the design, simulation, and optimization of our hydraulic energy chain - from individual cylinder performance to full-system dynamics. The role sits at the core of how REPS converts vehicle traffic into usable electricity.
Your tasks
- Design and development of hydraulic components including cylinders, accumulators, proportional valves, and solenoid control circuits
- Development and maintenance of hydraulic system models in MATLAB/Simscape
- Simulation of accumulator dynamics, pressure cycles, and energy transfer efficiency
- Development of control strategies for hydraulic actuation
- Creation and interpretation of hydraulic schematics
- BOM (Bill of materials) creation for hydraulic subsystems
- Support in the development of concepts for prototypes and test benches
- Testing and analyzing prototypes as well as evaluating, documenting, and adapting results
- Provide hands-on technical support during system development and field deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical engineers
Your profile
- Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or a comparable qualification
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic system design and component selection
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape for system-level simulation
- Solid understanding of fluid mechanics and pressure dynamics
- Experience reading and producing hydraulic schematics
- Strong technical judgement and a structured, solution-oriented work style
- Enthusiasm for energy transition, sustainability and future energy technologies
- Proactive mindset and joy to work in a dynamic start-up environment
- Strong collaboration skills to work with electrical, mechanical, mechatronics engineers and physicists
- Experience with accumulator sizing and gas law modelling
- Familiarity with CAN bus or embedded control systems (Arduino, PLCs)
- Prior work in mobile hydraulics or industrial automation
- Startup or hardware prototyping background
