REPS GmbH
Full-time
Permanent employee

About us

REPSRoad Energy Production System is an Austrian deep-tech start-up transforming road traffic into a source of clean, renewable energy.
Our technology captures lost energy from vehicles and converts it into electricity, turning roads into power plants.

We are an interdisciplinary team of engineers, physicists and business builders working on a technology that has the potential to reshape infrastructure and energy systems.
Our ambition is bold: to build a globally scalable infrastructure technology.

Location: Voldererbrücke 9, 6068 Mils, Tyrol – Austria
Start date: As soon as possible or by arrangement
Deployment: Full Time.

Your role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong software development and electrical simulation background to develop our energy harvesting system mainly related to our road power plant application. The role will involve architecture design, software development and testing of electrical components from prototypes to final design.

Your tasks

  • Create and maintain detailed system models and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, including control system design, signal processing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Perform circuit analysis, design verification, and fault simulation using LTSpice/Proteus to validate performance before physical prototyping.
  • Develop, write, and debug embedded firmware (C/C++) for microcontrollers and DSPs (e.g., STM, TI, NXP).
  • Implement real-time control algorithms, communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet) and peripheral drivers.
  • Collaborate with team members to define requirements and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
  • Support prototype bring-up, testing, debugging, and validation in the lab using oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.

Your profile

  • Master‘s/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a comparable qualification
  • 2–5+ years of experience in embedded software development
  • Programming Languages: Good knowledge of C and C++, Python and model based programming.
  • Embedded Systems: Experience with ARM Cortex-M, PIC, or AVR microcontrollers, and low-level drivers.
  • Hardware Knowledge: Ability to read schematics, use oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and troubleshoot PCB issues.
  • Software Tools: Knowledge of IDEs (e.g., Keil, IAR), version control (Git), and debugging tools.
  • Protocols: Proficiency in communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet
  • Interest in the development of green energy harvesting technologies with electrical components and programming skills
  • Enthusiasm for the topics of energy transition, sustainability and future energy technologies
  • Proactive and structured work style, solution-orientated thinking and the joy to work in a dynamic start-up environment
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with electrical, mechanical, mechatronics engineers and physicists

Why us?

  • A unique opportunity to be part of a Tyrolean greentech startup from the very beginning – with a meaningful mission and the ambition to become a future unicorn
  • Technically demanding and intellectually rewarding tasks with real-world impact
  • Hands-on work with cutting-edge innovation
  • Freedom to bring in your ideas and express your technical creativity
  • A modern work environment with space for personal growth and professional development
  • Direct collaboration with the System Heads and an experienced, interdisciplinary team
  • Flat hierarchies, open communication, and a startup spirit
  • Flexible working hours tailored to your needs
  • A salary above industry average, based on the Austrian “Kollektivvertrag für Arbeiter:innen im Metallgewerbe”

Please be aware, that as a fast-moving scale-up, we can only grow if we work on-site.
