Instandhaltungstechniker / Operations & Maintenance Engineer (m/w/d) – Teilzeit oder Werkstudent, Hamburger Hafen

Our first Road Power Plant is installed and running in the Port of Hamburg. We are looking for a hands-on Operations & Maintenance Engineer to ensure it continues to perform reliably, safely and efficiently.

You will work on the plant as a whole: mechanical structures, hydraulic circuits, the energy conversion module, electrical and control components, sensors and monitoring. You carry out scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance, and when something does need attention, you diagnose and fix it.

The plant sits in an active terminal. Work happens in gate lanes with real traffic, so you plan your work around the terminal's operations and use the windows you get.

This is a first-of-its-kind plant, and its maintenance routines are still being established. You will help define them and feed what you learn on site back to our engineering team and into the next generation of the product.

The position is part-time with 20 to 30 hours per week, flexibly scheduled. It also suits engineering students looking for substantial practical experience alongside their studies.

Located in the Port of Hamburg: this is an on-site role at the plant, so you should be based in or around Hamburg. Remote work is not possible.

• Inspect, service and maintain the system across all disciplines, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical, including hydraulic fluid care and leak control. 
• Diagnose and resolve faults and document the root cause, not only the fix
• Keep sensors and monitoring hardware calibrated, and record real operating data such as cycle counts, axle loads and vehicle speeds. Our design is based on assumptions about twenty years of traffic – you are the person who checks them against reality
• Plan and prepare your work safely, including lock-out procedures, and coordinate work windows and lane closures with our partners at the terminal
• Build up maintenance plans, spare part lists and service documentation, and manage the spare parts kept on site
• Support the engineering team during testing and upgrades, and external contractors and testing bodies during their work on site

• Technical background in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, energy technology or a related apprenticeship 
• Hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance and repair, and a solid understanding of hydraulic systems
• Ability to read technical drawings, hydraulic schematics and electrical diagrams
• You take ownership, stay calm under pressure and are comfortable working outdoors in an active traffic and logistics environment
• Available 20–30 hours per week, with flexibility for occasional early, late or weekend slots when the terminal gives us a window
• Professional German; English is an advantage
